About Us

The Library is run by the highly experienced Mrs P Wiggle who is ably assisted by an active Library Committee composed of pupils.  While the Library has access to both computers and an iPad its main purpose is to showcase an impressive collection of approximately 9000 volumes which allows pupils attending The High School to appreciate and value the printed word.
The Library is very much a working space which acts as an important social and cultural hub at the school.  A range of special occasions, including literary events, are frequently celebrated with presentations and displays, for example:
-          European Day of Languages
-          Europe Day
-          National Poetry Day
-          Pi Day
-          Science Week
-          Shakespeare’s Birthday
-          World Book Day
Teachers regularly book the Library as a wonderful space to teach special interest topics and to make use of the resources which the Library has to offer. Recently, as part of Science Week, Tim Gill (Subject Co-ordinator for Science) led a lecture in the Library on the Power of Science to Create Music. Pupils commented that it is an exciting way to learn, in addition to classroom based lessons.
